The Chevrolet Corvette C8 is due to arrived by the end of 2021

The wait is finally over for Australian Chevrolet Corvette fans, with General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) officially accepting orders from today (Wednesday).

It’s been nearly two years since the eighth generation Corvette was unveiled and right-hand drive factory production was confirmed, and included a period of uncertainty in the wake of Holden’s closure, but Australians who want to buy the American icon can now do so. GMSV already announced pricing for most of the range back in March, with the 2LT Coupe beginning the range at $144,990 (plus on-road and dealer costs).

It comes just days after the first examples of the right-hand drive ‘Vette C8 were seen in Japan. Australian deliveries of the Corvette – which are due to begin in the fourth quarter – will be based on the 2022 model year, due to be unveiled in the US in the coming months.

“The long wait is over, the books are open and our Dealers are ready to place orders,” announced Joanne Stogiannis, Director of GMSV.

“Excitement and anticipation have been building since the reveal of the C8 right-hand drive programme almost two years ago, even more so when we released recommended retail pricing for 2LT and 3LT models in late March.”

GMSV also announced pricing for the Carbon Edition, which will only be available as a coupe. It will be a limited run special, based on the high-grade 3LT model but with unique extras. These will include ‘Trident’ wheel design, a carbon fibre roof, carbon fibre interior trim elements, carbon fibre panels and lighting in the engine bay and an exclusive build plate and welcome pack. It will sit atop the range with a starting price of $189,990; which is more than $24,000 more expensive than the standard 3LT Coupe.
