Daniel Ricciardo’s former McLaren 720S Spider

Daniel Ricciardo’s separation from McLaren is complete, with his former company car up for sale.

The 2021 McLaren 720S Spider that the Australian drove during the 2022 Formula 1 season is currently advertised by a UK McLaren dealer. Befitting his former role as a McLaren F1 superstar, this particular model is loaded with goodies and finished in metallic ‘Lantana Purple’ from McLaren Special Operations (MSO).

Already a special car, the 720S Spider is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine good for 530kW of power and 770Nm of torque, Ricciardo added a huge number of optional extras. These include both an exterior and interior carbon fibre package, sports exhaust, Satin Diamond Cut wheel finish and a Bowers & Wilkins sound system (unsurprisingly, given Ricciardo’s well-known love of music).

The car is currently advertised via the McLaren New Forest dealership with an asking price of £217,450 ($405,000). Naturally, given his factory role, the car has a full service history but does have unusually high mileage for a supercar, with Ricciardo clocking up 10,861km behind the wheel.

This particular McLaren was used by Ricciardo when he was based in Europe, and he was known to have an even more powerful, limited edition 765LT at his Los Angeles home. But there’s no word on if he’s holding onto that or not.

These days Riccardo is more likely to be driving a Ford thanks to Red Bull Racing’s new partnership with the blue oval brand. Or driving his Toyota HiLux when he’s back in Australia on his family property in Western Australia.
