Genesis X Convertible Concept

Hyundai’s luxury division, Genesis, has unveiled its latest electric concept car and it’s a striking drop-top.

Revealed in sunny California ahead of the Los Angeles Motor Show, the Genesis X Convertible Concept is the third member of the brand’s trilogy of ‘X’ concepts that seemingly preview an upcoming flagship electric performance car. The convertible joins the X Concept and X Speedium Coupe Concept that have already demonstrated what the brand can do, but there’s no official timeline on when we’ll see a production vehicle based on this trio.

But Luc Donckerwolke, chief creative officer, for Genesis hinted that it’s only a matter of time.

“Genesis started life by producing sedans mainly targeting business users,” Donckerwolke explained. “While creating a new, differentiated design DNA, we gradually increased the emotional appeal by applying this DNA to the SUV typology. Now, electric powertrains have given us the perfect scenario in which to enjoy nature, and propelled the brand to create vehicles with even greater emotional resonance.”
