2024 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Collector’s Edition

This is the final Chevrolet Camaro – at least as we know it.

General Motors has revealed the details of the last iteration of the sixth-generation Camaro, which is due to end production in January 2024.

So to send-off the two-door Camaro in style, Chevrolet has created the Collector’s Edition, which is available on LT/RS, LT1 and SS variants. This special package adds a new Panther Black Metallic paint, Satin Black stripes, 20-inch Satin Black wheels (or optional polished forged rims) as well as the front splitter from the sporty 1LE package, while the coupe variants get the rear spoiler from the ZL1 model.

The range-topping ZL1 Collector’s Edition will get a unique matte version of the Panther Black colour, which will make it the first (and last) Camaro with a matte paint from the factory. The ZL1 version also gets a black metallic stripe and red brake callipers to complete its visual enhancements. Inside it gets a unique steering wheel with the build number on it, with Chevrolet committing to producing just 350 examples of the ZL1 Collector’s Edition. ZL1 buyers will also get a bespoke watch from Detroit-based watchmaker Shinola, which will feature the same build number as their car.

The new paint colour is a deliberate nod to the history of the Camaro, using the Panther name that was the codename for the first generation Camaro project.

“We found it fitting for this Collector’s Edition Camaro to officially recognize the significance of the original code name and share it with Camaro enthusiasts,” explained Rich Scheer, design director for Chevrolet Performance. “Of course, the name ‘Panther’ influenced the colours used, Panther Black Metallic for SS and Panther Matte Black for ZL1.”

While Chevrolet has left the door open to bring back the Camaro nameplate, it’s believed that it will most likely be in the form of an electric vehicle, possibly an SUV or sedan.
